Cold Feet returns to ITV
More than ten years have passed since we said goodbye to Adam, Pete, Jenny, Karen and David on ITV’s much-loved Cold Feet. Tonight, the characters we loved are back, older but not necessarily wiser, on our television screens once more.
When we last left Cold Feet, Adam was struggling to raise little Matthew after the loss of his soul mate Rachel, Pete and Jenny were stronger than ever after a series of break ups and David and Karen had called it a day on their marriage.
Cold Feet creator Mike Bullen, said: “This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age. They’re 50, but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age.”
Indeed, a lot has changed in the years we’ve spent apart, but fans can be reassured a lot has remained the same. As we return to the present day, Pete and Jenny’s relationship is strained. The economic downturn has cost Pete his job, and he feels increasingly isolated as Jenny’s salary can barely support them.
David’s relationship with solicitor Robyn is now over, and, more worryingly, his lavish lifestyle is in question. The workplace seems swamped with bright new young professionals threatening – in his mind – to usurp his position. Can David remain on top of his game without resorting to underhand methods?
Karen on the other hand has seen success after success. She’s reached the top of her career while raising her three children almost single-handedly. She’s proven she can handle pressure, but can she deal with her life slowing down? With her kids about to fly the nest and her career stagnating, could Karen’s greatest challenge still be ahead of her?
Then there’s Adam, who’s now happily settled in Singapore. He returns home to his friends with an exciting announcement – but it completely shocks his friends.
