Dave orders new political comedy series with comedian Matt Forde
Dave has ordered a new political comedy series starring comedian Matt Forde, which is set to air in September.
Unspun With Matt Forde will take advantage of the turbulent political climate both nationally and internationally with episodes of the six-part series being filmed the day before they air in the UK. They’ll feature Matt Forde’s reactions to the week’s events, interviews with leading politicians and news reporting from Forde’s fellow comedians.
Forde previously worked as an advisor to the British Labour Party and has appeared on The Royal Variety Performance, Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week, Rory Bremner’s Coalition Report and Rory Bremner’s Election Report, 8 out of 10 Cats, Question Time, This Week, Newsnight and Daily Politics.
Speaking about the new series, Forde said: “I’m simultaneously horrified and entertained by the state of British politics so I can’t wait to start making Unspun. It was either do this or become Shadow Environment Secretary and I wanted to do something credible.”
UKTV Commissioning Director Richard Watsham added: “Firstly, I’d like to thank all those people who voted in the referendum for giving us so much material to work with, there’s never been a better time to make a political talk show. It’s a significant step for the maturity of UKTV originations that we can take on such a topical and frankly, important series.”
Dave General Manager Steve North said: “We are incredibly excited to make a giant leap into the turbulent world of politics. 2016 isn’t short of political stories and now more than ever it’s important that satire has a voice on TV. Matt Forde will entertain audiences by bridging the gap between comedy and politics in Unspun in the Autumn.”
