EastEnders want George Clooney
EastEnders star Bonnie Langford wants George Clooney to bag a role on the London-based soap.
Langford, who stars as Carmel Kazemi on the soap, said: “I think George Clooney lives in Sonning, doesn’t he? It’s not too much of a commute to London, so a little guest spot would be perfect!
“Carmel seems to bring him up in conversation a lot so she’d love it if he turned up and offered to take her out. I think George would like it, too, so we should put it to him. I’m sure Amal [his wife] wouldn’t mind.”
Langford recently won the Best Newcomer Award at the British Soap Awards for her portrayal of Carmel, the interfering mother of established regular Kush (Davood Ghadami). The Kazemi brood has recently been joined by youngest son Shakil, played by Britain’s Got Talent alum Shaheen Jafargholi.
Clooney is best known for his extensive Hollywood filmography, including blockbuster hits such as Ocean’s Eleven and Gravity. As of 2016, he has not yet ventured into the world of British soap operas.
Clooney has some time to consider a guest appearance on Eastenders, however, as Langford confirmed she’s on the show for the long haul.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Langford said: “Carmel is going to be sticking around for a while, and she’s happy about that. Being in a soap is something I never thought would be on my list in my career, and I’m still in awe of how it all works.
“I feel very privileged that I get to be the person who brings a warm, funny and feisty character such as Carmel to life!”
