Gifty Louise has added more fuel to the X Factor conspiracy fires by telling a reporter she knew she was going home before the results show.
Gifty departed the X Factor on Sunday night, after the phone lines closed and she (supposedly) learnt she was in the bottom two. Gifty faced Four of Diamonds in the sing-off, and only her mentor Simon Cowell voted to save her.
However, Gifty revealed to On Demand entertainment: “I knew I was going home. I was told I was going home on the Saturday night.”
She did not explain what she meant by this ambiguous choice of words.
Talking about the rumours that the show is fixed, Gifty added: “When it comes to the whole fix allegations I can’t really say anything about it, I don’t know, I’m not the producers. We just perform and we have to be great and hope people vote for us.”
The X Factor was quick to clarify Gifty’s statement, with a spokesperson saying: “The bottom two contestants who face the sing-off is decided by the public vote and the vote does not close until Sunday night, so the results are not known until then.
“Gifty’s comments were related to what friends and family said to her after her performance on Saturday night, as they felt she was at risk of being in the sing-off.”
