Great British Bake Off: What to expect from tonight’s ‘patisserie week’ episode
The semi-final of the Great British Bake Off is here, and remaining bakers Andrew Smyth, Selasi Gbormittah, Jane Beedle and Candice Brown will be going head to head tonight in a patisserie themed episode.
Last week we bid an emotional farewell to the lovely Benjamina, who failed to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with her Tudor creations.
We’re back to a slightly more conventional theme this week, however, with three patisserie-related challenges lined up for the contestants to tackle.

Here is what we can expect to see from the three rounds tonight:
The semi-finalists will be showing off their skills during this week’s signature challenge, as they are faced with the task of making the difficult French treat, palmiers. The bakers will have to put their own unique twist on the French pastry, bashing their butter and folding their pastry to absolute perfection.
The technical has been set by Mr. Hollywood this week, and with it being so close to the final we’re sure there won’t be room for any error. The final four will be given some ambiguous instructions in which they will be expected to negotiate cake, fruit, chocolate work and yeast.
And finally, the showstopper. In a last attempt to persuade the judges that they are worthy of making the final, the bakers will have to create a patisserie masterpiece. Mary and Paul will ask Andrew, Selasi, Jane and Candice to make multiple mini sponge sweets, and will be paying close attention to the taste, bake and appearance.
The pressure is really on now.
On your marks. Get… set… BAKE!
The Great British Bake Off continues tonight (Wednesday) on BBC One.
