J-Law and Scarlett Johansson Top List of Best Paid Actresses
Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Avenger’s star Scarlett Johansson have claimed the two top spots on Forbes annual ranking of highest paid actresses.
Lawrence stands way above her competition, raking in a casual $52 million in the last year, thanks mainly to her starring roles in blockbuster franchises The Hunger Games and X-Men, alongside her contract with luxury brand Dior.
Scarlett Johansson came in second, earning $35.5 million. The Lost in Translation star pulled in a nice chunk of change for her role in Avengers: Age of Ultron and also starred in the hit action movie Lucy, with the rest of her income supplemented by endorsements from Dolce & Gabbana and Sodastream.
Spy star Melissa McCarthy came in third with $23 million. Her solo espionage comedy from Bridesmaids Paul Feig was a resounding success, earning $234 million at the box office on a $65 million budget. McCarthy also stars on the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly, and last year launched a clothing line for plus-size women which further increased her income.
Chinese actress Bingbing Fan was the only non-American to make the list earning $21 million. She is best known to American audiences for her role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, though she also starred in the Chinese fantasy epic The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom.
In addition, Horrible Bosses funny woman Jennifer Aniston earned $16.5 million, while Julia Roberts earned $16 million and Angelina Jolie-Pitt earned $15 million.
