Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ is already in IMDB’s top 20 television series ever
New original Netflix series Stranger Things has already climbed to #20 in IMDB’s 250 Top Rated Television Shows, despite only being released last Friday.
The IMDB Top 250 is a list of the top rated shows by IMDB users, and includes critically-acclaimed series such as Breaking Bad (#3) and Game of Thrones (#4), with the top spot going to Band of Brothers.
Stranger Things‘ rise to #20 means that it now sits above all other Netflix Original Series on the list, including breakout hits House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.
Stranger Things is set in the early 1980s and tells the story of a group of young kids in a small town in Long Island and their search for a friend who vanishes one night on his way home – uncovering top secret government experiments and terrifying supernatural forces. It has been praised by critics for the acting ability of the young actors, a haunting score, and delivering a big dose of 80s nostalgia straight to the viewer’s heart.
The series has gone from strength to strength in the weekend since its release, receiving a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes after 27 of 30 reviewers deemed it ‘fresh’.
