Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell to DIE in EastEnders New Year’s twist?
Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell will be killed off in an explosive New Year’s Eve special, according to reports.
The shock news arrives shortly after it was revealed Sam Womack (Ronnie) and Rita Simons (Roxy) would be bowing out from the show together after nine years on-screen.
During their time on screen, the Mitchell sisters have been a force to be reckoned with – dealing with their abusive dad, relationship issues and the deaths of many close to them. Ronnie has struggled with historical abuse from her father Archie plus the deaths of her long-lost daughter Danielle and newborn son. Roxy has had a slightly easier time on the Square, where her main storylines involved hiding the paternity of her daughter, briefly becoming a millionaire and one-night-stands with two of Ronnie’s husbands.
Womack and Simons were reportedly very upset to learn their characters would be killed off, as they’d hoped the door would be left open for a possible future return like on-screen cousin Ross Kemp. Other cast members were apparently disappointed at not being consulted about the decision.
According to The Sun, a source said: “Everyone’s in shock. The cast are really upset as it’s come out of the blue.”
“People are worried who’s going to be next. The script for Roxy and Ronnie’s deaths has been written, but none of the actors know what’s going to happen.”
The BBC has refused to comment on the reports, saying: “We know how much our audience hate to have any future storylines spoilt so we will not comment on speculative stories.
“At no point have we received any concerns from cast about any of our future storylines.”
