Sky Atlantic to simulcast USA premiere of Jagger-Scorsese rock drama ‘Vinyl’
TV and music fans alike will want to mark February 15th 2016 in their diaries.
Created by Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street), the ten part drama starring Bobby Cannevale (Boardwalk Empire, Spy) and Olivia Wilde (Her, Tron: Legacy) will tell the story of Richie Finestra – an American record executive in the 1970s trying to resurrect his label and find the next ‘new sound’.
Among the bands featured in the show will be punk rockers ‘The Nasty Bits’, led by Jagger’s own son, James Jagger.
“The Stones’ music will be in the series but not with any more frequency than any other music of the period,” says HBO president Michael Lombardo. “Mick’s son is one of our series’ regulars. James is playing a young musician who looks not unlike his father. But the band has nothing to do with the Rolling Stones. Very different period. Very different trajectory”.
So feather your hair, break out the bell bottom jeans, and get ready to rock and roll.
Vinyl hits Sky Atlantic and HBO on 15.02.15.
