Sorry Kids, Dawn of Justice is the Superman Sequel
So the last we heard of Man of Steel 2 was a cheeky rumour about man of the moment Zac Snyder, suggesting that the 300 director might be replaced by Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller for the Superman sequel.
But – and we’re sorry to be the one’s to break it to you folks – it now seems that Snyder is aboard for the follow-up to his 2013 superhero movie because he’s filmed it already.
That’s right, despite Superman himself Henry Cavill doing his best to mislead us, the filmmaker has said that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a direct follow-up to his previous outing for Warner Bros and DC, meaning it is unlikely there will be a Man of Steel 2 coming your way.
Snyder told Canoe: “I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2,”
“Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”
And of course this unfortunately all makes perfect sense considering how Batman v Superman’s trailers have shown a story emerging directly from the fallout of the last film.
And this means it is looking unlikely that another solo Superman movie is in the works at all. Or if it is, it isn’t happening with Snyder and Warner Bros. are moving ahead without him.
In the meantime, you can drown your sorrows in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer below, and wait anxiously for its release in cinemas from March 25, 2016 when you’ll get to fill your Superman fix for a while.
