Two couples will leave Dancing on Ice in a double elimination next week
The stars will be training harder than ever this week as Dancing on Ice is set for a double elimination on Sunday.
The ITV show usually sees one celebrity leave the competition each week after performing an ice skating routine in front of the panel of judges. However, this week bosses are throwing in a shock twist as not one, but two couples will be forced to wave goodbye to that Dancing on Ice trophy.
Host Phillip Schofield said: “Next week our seven remaining couples take to the rink once more, no doubt they’ll have a few surprises for us. But right now, we’ve got a very big one for them.
“Next week, for the first time, there will be a double elimination. Two couples will leave the competition. Who will survive? Find out next week.”
The double elimination will leave just five contestants in the running, so the pressure is well and truly on.
Lemar Obika was the latest celebrity to be given the boot from the series after scoring just 20 points out of a possible 40.
He said: “We just tried to concentrate on skating a bit more. It is what it is.”
Yet, judge Jason Gardiner seemed to think it was his professional partner Melody Le Moal who was to blame.
“I think you slipped again on this one, Melody,” Jason explained. “I liked the beginning but then it just didn’t continue.
“Lemar, I’ve asked you to really connect with the emotion of the movement. This is a piece where you really should’ve done that and you didn’t do it again this week.”
Dancing on Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
