WATCH: Something is coming in first Sherlock series 4 trailer
The first trailer for the upcoming fourth series of Sherlock has been unveiled.
The exciting new trailer, which was unveiled at a Sherlock panel at San Diego Comic Con over the weekend, begins where the last series left off in January 2014.
It teases a potential return of series one and two villain Moriarty, who shot himself in the head at the end of series two, with the same grainy footage that left us guessing in the series three cliffhanger. Could Moriarty really have found a way to survive? It’s not a certain lead character didn’t already miraculously survive a near-certain death earlier in the show.
Or could this Moriarty be a pretender? Why pretend? These are the questions Sherlock faces in the new series, as he prepares himself for something big – and likely devastating.
Series stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes), Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson), Mark Gatiss (co-creator/executive producer/writer), Steven Moffat (co-creator/executive producer/writer), and Sue Vertue (producer) were all present at the panel, during which they also gave three clues as to what to expect in the next series of the acclaimed mystery series. They are the names Thatcher, Smith and Sherrinford.
We’re not sure what to think about those, but what we do know is 2017 can’t come soon enough.
