X Factor’s Honey G is launching her own record label: ‘H to the O Music’
Former X Factor contestant Honey G is launching her own record label after being dropped by Simon Cowell.
She may not have won the X Factor, or even got to the final, but Honey G was certainly one of the most talked about contestants to appear on the 2016 series. In fact, the controversial rapper attracted so much attention that judge Simon Cowell confirmed a record deal with the star once the show had finished.
After her first single failed to take off, however, the artist was dropped by Syco and it was looking like Honey G’s reign was over.
But you’ll be delighted to hear the North Wheezy legend is back and now she is taking full creative control of her work by forming her own label: H to the O Music.
Speaking to The Sun, she explained: “I decided to launch my own label in order to give me more creative control and focus purely on producing real rap and hip-hop music.”
Honey also revealed she’s produced and composed her new single “Hit you with the Honey G”.
The rapper continued: “My new single, “Hit you with the Honey G”, was produced, arranged and composed by me and was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award winner Liam Nolan from Metropolis Studios.”
And apparently the track will give listeners a real insight into the life of Honey G, as the lyrics relate to her own past experiences. She said: “All the samples were generated and sequenced by me and I recorded and produced the guitar in the chorus. In the song my lyrics are about my life and my experiences.”
Despite the split from Simon’s label Syco, Honey remains positive about her future musical career.
“Working with Syco was great, but now I’m totally in control,” she explained. “I’m personally backing the whole PR campaign for the single and I can now exemplify my own vision.”
Honey concluded: “I feel now is my chance to become globally recognised as a rapper and I hope the people believe and invest in my music.”
X Factor will return later this year to ITV.
