X Factor’s Sharon Osbourne hits out at Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw for inexperience
New X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has critiqued last year’s mentors Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw for not being experienced enough for the role.
The star, who returns as a judge in 2016 after nine years away, said to the Sun that if she were a contestant on the show now she would not be impressed by those stars whose staying power has not yet been verified.
She said: “If I was a contestant and there was a young girl or guy on the panel, who’s had success but not long success because they are so young, and they were telling me what I should and shouldn’t do, I would tell them what to do.
“I think when you are advising people on their career, it always comes better from people who have had experience through age and who have had a long career themselves.”
“If somebody has just happened and they are two years into their career, then they can’t tell someone what to do, or what they feel they should do.
“Or they can tell them, but the person they’re telling is going to be like, ‘Who are you? Are you going to be here in five years?’ They haven’t passed the test of time yet.”
Sharon’s damning assessment comes shortly after fellow returning judge Louis Walsh also hit out at the Ora and Grimshaw for the same reason while speaking to Best Magazine.
He said: “Sharon and I are old, but that means we’re far more experienced, unlike the young whippersnappers on last year’s panel who didn’t know a thing about talent.
“Sharon and I pushed for Nicole, we didn’t want Rita Ora. It turned into a fashion show.
