Your dog can now change the channel with the world’s first dog TV remote
Yes, you read it right. The world’s first dog TV remote has been invented.
This terrific piece of technology comes from the mind of llyena Hirsky-Douglas, a PhD Researcher in Animal Computer Design at the University of Central Lancashire, in collaboration with the pet food brand Wagg.
Dan Reeves, from Wagg, said:
We know that people can feel a little guilty about leaving their dogs in a room alone for a short while, whether it’s to pop to the shops or cook dinner in the kitchen, so we wanted to create something that would keep the dog entertained and reassure owners of their well-being.
With a colour scheme designed specifically for dog’s colourblindness as well as extra large buttons, your dog can now happily browse through programmes when you’re not in the room – just like Rocky the boxer here enjoying a bit of Wimbledon…
According to Hirskyj-Douglas, “the average dog now watches more than nine hours of TV a week” so this remote should come in handy for those dogs bored of watching the same channel for nine hours straight.
The below image shows that real thought and care has gone into making this a useful product for your canine companion.
This prototype has been commissioned especially by Wagg to celebrate the launch of “Dogglebox”. The one-off show created for Youtube will see canines reviewing their favourite TV shows in the style of Gogglebox.
We will definitely be tuning in as we’re certain it’ll give us some paws for thought.
